Giving back to the communities where we are located has always been important to Bonavista. We support a variety of organizations through sponsorship and volunteering both individually and corporately. In doing this, we strive to make our communities all together better through involvement. Below are some of the organizations supported by our team:
United Way
For the past 20 years, we have hosted fundraising events in support of The United Way of Calgary and Area and its associated local charities. The United Way’s annual campaign is ingrained in our culture. Not only do our employees raise significant funds during this campaign, but we focus on voluntarism opportunities during this week through the United Way Day of Caring. Over the past four years, the average corporate engagement in our week-long United Way campaign has been 77 percent and we have raised a total of $1.2 million alongside our employees in charitable donations. Since the beginning of our relationship with the United Way, our team has donated over $5 million as a company to the local charities and initiatives it supports.
Habitat for Humanity
The foundation arranges volunteer house builds based on the concept that every family needs a safe and decent place to live. Our team regularly participates in these builds, usually once per year.
2013 Flood Relief
Every group in our head office participated in clean-up activities either in Calgary and/or High River.
Ronald McDonald House
RMH provides a home away from home for the families of seriously ill children who are staying at a nearby hospital. We volunteer our time to prepare dinner for these families, under the Home for Dinner program.
Other
Raised funds to support the Light the Night Walk hosted by the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society of Canada.
We also participate in annual events focused on collecting food and donations for the Calgary Food Bank.
We engage in an employee charity matching program to match donations raised by employees for their charities of choice.
